Dr. Farzin Ghannad earned his dental degree from the University of Goettingen, Germany in 1996. He moved to Ottawa in 1997 where he maintained a successful general dental practice until 2004.
In 2007, Dr. Ghannad completed his 3 year Masters Specialty training in Periodontics & Implant Surgery at the University of British Columbia earning a Diploma in Periodontics and Master of Science. During his studies, Dr. Ghannad was granted the Nobel Biocare Achievement award twice for excellence in the field of Implant Dentistry and was the recipient for the Kathleen McAnulty Memorial Prize in Graduate Periodontics. Dr. Ghannad was ranked 7th out of nearly 500 Graduate Periodontics residents in North America as per the American In-Service Examination of 2007.
Besides his private practices in Vancouver and Yellowknife and his affiliation with Vancouver General Hospital, Dr. Ghannad is the Associate Director of the Graduate Periodontics and Implant Surgery at the University of British Columbia. He actively lectures nationally in study clubs and courses on the subject of Periodontics and Implant surgery.
Dr. Ghannad is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a member of good standing for the following:

- Canadian Academy of Periodontology
- American Academy of Periodontology
- British Columbia Society of Periodontists
- Board member of VIDA (Vancouver Iranian Dental Association)
- College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia
As a husband and father he enjoys spending time with his Wife, Azadeh and their young daughter, Rose. Dr. Ghannad is also an avid sportsman who enjoys swimming and skiing.
